1. What is the best way to find open positions at Gartner?
The best way to find open positions is through this site. We also list openings at Monster, CareerBuilder, various regional Web sites and internally on our intranet.
2. I’ve submitted my application. What’s the next step?
Once your résumé is submitted, a recruiter assigned to the business unit you've applied to will review your application. If your skills and experience match the position’s requirements, you will receive an e-mail or a phone call to schedule an interview.
3. Who is the contact person for the recruiting process?
Gartner has multiple recruiters, and each one is assigned to one of our 11 major business units. Gartner will notify you of your candidate status upon application and throughout the recruitment process.
4. Can the hiring process be expedited if I receive an offer from another company?
Gartner will take other offers in consideration when making a hiring decision. It is our practice to make the interviewing timeline convenient for all of our applicants.

5. Should I expect to hear back from Gartner after sending my application? If so, when?
Once your résumé is submitted, a recruiter assigned to the business unit you’ve applied to will review your application. If your skills and experience match the position’s requirements, you will receive an e-mail or a phone call to schedule an interview. If your application is not a fit for us at this time, you will receive notification and a request to keep your information on file for future opportunities.
6. Should I reapply after a certain period of time?
You may reapply if you are interested in another position within Gartner. Your application and résumé will be on file for the position for which you’ve applied until that position is filled. It is therefore not necessary to reapply for the same opening.
7. What are interviews like at Gartner?
Gartner conducts behavioral and skills-based interviews. Interviews typically range from 30 to 90 minutes and are generally one-on-one. In some instances, group interviews are conducted.
8. Does Gartner use case studies or other interview approaches?
Gartner often uses case studies, particularly for Sales and Consulting recruitment. You should expect to complete an online assessment in this case.

9. How many people will interview me?
An initial interview with Recruiting is usually conducted. This is followed by up to three rounds of interviews depending on the business unit and level of the position.
10. What general qualities is Gartner looking for in a candidate?
Gartner hires associates with traits such as integrity, passion, curiosity, urgency, confidence and empathy.
11. What types of positions are available for recent university graduates?
Gartner looks for recent university graduates to fill product management and product development roles in our corporate office. We look for individuals who have had a technology focus in their studies. We also hire recent graduates for our corporate finance, accounting and marketing departments. From time to time, we also have opportunities in Human Resources, Strategic Technology Group, Executive Programs, Consulting, Sales and the Client Relationship Organization. We seek applicants with relevant degrees of study.
12. What types of positions are available for candidates with advanced degrees?
Gartner offers a variety of positions that require an M.B.A., Ph.D. or other advanced degree. Many of these positions are within our Consulting (Consultant), Events, Executive Programs (Executive Partner), High-Tech & Telecom Programs, End-User Programs and Research (Analyst, Research Director) business units.

13. Does Gartner offer internships?
Gartner offers internships each summer in North America.
14. Does Gartner hire summer associates?
In North America, Gartner generally hires undergraduate, graduate and students in M.B.A. programs focused on technology, computer science and engineering.
15. I live in the U.S. but would like to work in Asia. What should I do?

You may discuss salary and benefits with HR and Recruiting. Our team is devoted to helping guide you through the recruiting process and offering counsel as needed. This includes compensation advice and discussion.

17. I love to travel. Which business units should I look into?
Research, Executive Programs, Consulting, Events and Sales offer positions requiring varying amounts of travel. Other Gartner business units also have travel opportunities depending on role and responsibilities.
18. How much training will I receive once I’m hired?
